Toei Press Release: US Dragon Ball Figures

As we posted about earlier, Bandai will be releasing Dragon Ball Super action figures to the US in Summer, 2017. Well now it’s official as official can be. Toei has released a press release that you can read here.

The press release details Toei’s plans for the franchise in the United States and what they will be releasing. As of now the planned line up is as follows: Power Up Feature 3.5-Inch Action Figures,  Dragon Stars Series 6.5-Inch Poseable Action Figures, Final Attack 7 Inch-Action Figures,  Spin Battlers 2.5 Inch Action Figures and other assorted role play items.

“Bandai’s creative ambition is at full force with the release of their exciting Dragon Ball Super catalog,” said Masayuki Endo, President of Toei Animation Inc. “The toys recognize the Dragon Ball franchise’s long history and appeal to a wide variety of audiences and we look forward to aggressively building out the licensing component of this franchise.”

In our last post we didn’t have much in the way of imagery to show, but a new official image has surfaced of the figures we can expect state side in Summer, 2017 and they’re not half bad.

Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.

  1. the 6.5 will not fit with the 6 inch s. h. figuarts line nor will it fit with the old american 5 inch line of toys. The 6.5 figures will not be as detailed as the s. h. figuarts lines. So basically we will have figures that don’t fit with our collection. just make the figures 5 inches. The figures will not sell well unless they change this.

  2. This will be great for people not wanting to fork out $50 characters, that they don’t love, but would still like a figure for.

  3. I’ll be interested to see the differences between the 6.5 inch and 7 inch figures. Maybe it’s gonna be poseability? Anyway that picture looks pretty sweet. Can’t wait for this.

          • The thing that really sucks about the scale is that if the 6.5″ ones include characters like Goku at that size then they won’t be in scale with ML. Goku is not the same height as most of the 6.5″ ML. The 7″ scale figures, if they are characters like Broly or Jinzoningen Ju Roku-Go, would be great with ML.

On a general note, I’m hoping these are just the digital protos and that the angularness of the sculpts and the thinness of the joints will be corrected a bit in the actual releases.
