The Rules(Again):
#1: The contest will run from September 8th, 9AM PST through September 15th, 9AM PST
#2: You can only win one item. If you win twice, I will follow up with you and ask you which one you want.
#3: Your collection MUST include a date stamped photo. The reason for this, is I don’t want people coming into the sub and finding random collections on the internet and posting them just to win the prizes. That is not fair to any of the members
#4: Free shipping in the US. I will pay for shipping if you are in the US. If you are international, I will ask that you help cover part of the shipping cost. You will be responsible for any import tax that is due.
#5: Have fun!


How to Enter(Again):
Subscribe to the sub: While not necessary, it would be nice, and you can see all the cool collections!
Starting September 8th, 2019 through September 15th, post a picture of your collection. Tag it with the “Giveaway Contest” Flair(This is a requirement), and you will have 1 point entered for all three items. Your picture will be required to have a picture of your collection(duh) and a piece of paper with your Reddit username, and a date from at least 8/25/2019 until the contest deadline

3. To better the chances for the item you want, I will make an “Official” contest thread that will be pinned, leave a comment with the item that you most want, IE: Gohan. This gets you 1 additional point towards that item.
Example: If I post a picture of my collection, I have 1 point towards Gohan, Beerus, and Goku. If I make a comment in the Contest thread for Goku, I will now have 2 points towards Goku, 1 towards Beerus, and 1 towards Gohan.

1. Users May Now Register for Accounts
   These accounts will allow users to:
   – Create a profile
   – Comment on news posts with their user profile
   – Keep track of user comments by browsing their profile
   – Add figures from the figure database to their profile, enabling users to keep better track of their collection
   – In the future, users will be able to submit entries to the figure database
2. The New Figure Database is Now Live
   The revamped figure database is now live. It allows users to search based on multiple criteria, or to browse manually.

The first bit of news does unfortunately mean that we have parted ways with Disqus as our news commenting system. However, users will be able to comment using their registered profiles at the site. Additionally they will be able to keep track of their comments and the comments of others by browsing their profile.

We want to stress that these changes are all in their beta phases. We dont expect everything to work perfectly, so if you find any errors or bugs with the website please report them via our contact page.

In the spirit of Thanksgiving; I wanted to express my thanks to everyone who visits the site. Be it long term visitors or new visitors, I’m glad you’re here and I hope you enjoy the site. DBZFigures.com has been going strong for over four years now and it would not be happening if it were not for our site’s visitors.

While on the topic of Thanksgiving, in case anyone missed the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, Goku made an appearance:

Pretty exciting to see, especially considering Dragon Ball has never made an appearance in the parade, despite having a strong foothold in North America’s pop culture for decades.

I also wanted to let everyone know that I’m sorry for updates to the site being slow as of late. While the site itself doesn’t always get updated with every bit of news, we do post smaller news items on our social media profiles frequently. So check us out on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube if you haven’t already.

I’m currently working on a new version of the site’s figure database. I can no longer maintain this database in the way that it is run now, without it being extremely inefficient for myself and the end user. I want to create a true database that can be searched from the website using different search criteria, or simply using keywords. I feel our current database is difficult to search accurately and difficult for collectors to navigate.

I do not know how long it will take for this to be completed and become an active feature of the site, but I will be sure to keep you updated along the way. Additionally, I will continue to update the site with news during the production of this upcoming feature.

The Past:

I’ve made very mild mention of how I’m active duty military in updates here at the site, but as of recently I have finished my contract and returned to civilian life. What does this mean? In short, it means more time for the site. But it also means more time for other things too, so that doesn’t guarantee we will be seeing more activity here at DBZ Figures.com. I hope to be able to bolster the figures database and perhaps find an easier way of cataloguing figures here. I think the methods I’ve been utilizing in the past have been ineffective and are cumbersome for the content author.

The Future:

Now that I’ve unlocked a bit more of that free time I was talking about above, I’d like to start looking toward the future with the site. I want to streamline and expand our figure database. I want to write more guides. I want to post more meaningful news. I want to expand our social media presence. This is a lot for one guy to do. Luckily, for the past several years I’ve had a staff member running our social media. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Adam G. for this tireless efforts in running our Twitter account and checking in on the Facebook page too.

I’m going to do my best, going forward, to find ways to make sure our figure database is updated more often. If I have to stick with the old ways of updating it, then I will. I’ll have to certainly focus on the popular figure lines, in order to prioritize my efforts. But it can be done.

I’m pretty thrilled to see the site hitting the three year mark. This project started as something I wanted to do to simply pass the time and continue to have a hand in the Dragon Ball community, as well as a way for me to continue working on a website of some kind. Both web development and Dragon Ball hold a special place in my heart and I didn’t want to drift away from them too much, thus the site was born!

I know updates have slowed down as of late, this is due in part to me being busy preparing for deployment with the world’s greatest Navy and also due in part to Dragon Ball figure news slowing down.

I’d like to start updating the figure database more often in the future, remove the price guides (as they’re very out of date) and find extra staff members to help me keep the site active. If you have any other suggestions for the site, please let me know. I’ll do my best to implement them.

Finding prototype figures is rare enough, but never have I seen any prototype handheld electronics.. until now. A seller on eBay named qeelocke has posted up several prototype electronic handhelds by Tiger Electronics. The seller has two hand held RC figures and several handheld video games that are all in the early prototyping stages. The seller has stated on each auction that none of the items contain actual electronics in them, which tells us how early on in the prototyping phase these products were in. However, each item was hand painted by Tiger Electronics employees and none of these items actually made it into production.

Yes, that’s correct. None of these actually got the green light to be produced! Several of my friends who collect prototype figures have both the prototype version of the figure and the actual production version; which provides for a great display. However, items like this give us insight into what was going on in the minds of the manufacturers of Dragon Ball merchandise during a lucrative age.

I also feel it may be appropriate to lay out my plans for 2017 regarding the site. I want to expand and complete our checklists, as I feel it’s the second most valuable resource the site offers. First being the news, as shown on the main page. I want the site to be a reputable and valuable resource for collectors who not only want to know the latest goings on in Dragon Ball action figure collecting, but also consider us the most informative and thorough resource for the myriad of different manufacturers and lines in the Dragon Ball figure collecting scene.

I’d also like to take on staff members to help me keep the main page updated with accurate news posts. So if you have Word Press experience, know a bit about Dragon Ball figure collecting and find yourself informed before most with the latest news, then perhaps you should get in touch with me about a staff position here.

I meant to make this post last month, the proper month of our founding, but better late than never! So now that August has come to pass, DBZFigures.com has officially been around for two years. You read right, the site started in August, 2014 and only pulled in a few hundred visitors per day at best. However, today we average 2,000 or more visitors each day.

This site wouldn’t be nearly as successful as it is without the loyal support of the visitors who check the site regularly and comment on the news posts, making for a fun and interactive experience for everyone. So from myself, the staff and contributors; thank you very much!
