It is already 2021 in many parts of the world and for the United States, the end to 2020 is a few short hours away. This has been an interesting year and despite the challenges, many figures were released. Here is my list for my top 10 favorite figures released during the past year. This doesn’t include pre-orders for figures that will ship next year and those will hopefully be included in next year’s list. Check back tomorrow for the top five!
10. Dragon Ball Z Ekiden Goku & Gohan
This is one of two Banpresto figures on my list. What I liked about this figure was that they released it with anime eyes and also an extra arm for Goku so you could pose it next to Gohan. Price wise this wont break your bank at $24.99 each.
09. Pop! Animation: Dragon Ball Z Champa (Flocked) Exclusive
I don’t collect too many of these, but the flocked figures are on of my favorites and even though this was an exclusive, it wasn’t hard to get and the price isn’t too bad either.
08. Dragon Ball S.H.Figuarts Bulma’s Capsule No. 9 Bike
Up to this point, Figuarts had not released any vehicles or buildings for Dragon Ball aside from display stands so this was a nice change from purely figures. Hopefully they do some buildings as well and also larger vehicles like Frieza’s ship or the Capsule Space Craft.
07. Dragon Ball Super Gigantic Series Goku (Ultra Instinct) Exclusive
The gigantic series is my favorite line to collect due to their sheer size and impact they have. These aren’t cheap but they also dont release every month either so its more manageable. This is one of two gigantic figures released in 2020 and improved on the regular Ultra Instinct Goku from last year. Although UI looks great in animation, the special affects just dont transfer well to figures and the pale look doesn’t help either. With Sign, there is more contrast and I think they hit it out of the park with the stance.
06. Dragon Ball Z Imagination Works Goku Figure
There was a lot of controversy with this figure, but anytime a new figure line is released, it is always a good thing for collectors. Although this isn’t perfect, hopefully they improve this if they continue releasing new items.
