Tokyo Toy Show 2019

Day one of Tokyo Toy Show 2019 is upon us and the convention organizers have opened their doors for “buyer’s day”. Buyer’s day is a day aimed at people working within the toy industry, thusly meaning the general public may not attend. However, photos are coming out of the event and we have some Dragon Ball coverage for you right here!

Several new figures were revealed in the WCF line, as well as the Super Dragon Ball Heroes Ichiban Kuji. Check out the photos below:

Over all, there’s a lot to be excited about. However, I can’t help but feel like Bandai has been slipping in terms of quality lately. There’s been some noticeable discrepancies between the prototypes and the final products that are discouraging.

For instance; consider the Super Saiyan 3 Goku you saw above. Here’s a photo juxtaposing the prototype from the final product:

Final version on left, prototype on the right..

It seems a lot has been lost during the production of the figure, as the prototype had a facial expression that wasn’t nearly as “off putting”.

What are your thoughts? We want to hear from you in the comments section.

  1. Unrelated news, but Barnes and Nobles has a 20% off fathersday coupon and they have a lot of the more recent figuarts releases if anyone is looking to purchase.
