Tokyo

Since this is a slow news day, I wanted to share my experience in Tokyo from the first week of this month when I was there for four days. I was able to visit the Tamashii Shop in Akihabara and purchased the limited edition Goku figure with the clear hair. What I found weird was that they took my picture when I purchased the figure and when I asked my friend about it, they thought it might have been because the figure was limited to one per person and that was their way to prevent scalping. A search on Google confirmed this, but that was still very weird if you think about it.

I also walked around for a bit checking out all the stores and most of the figures being sold in shops were the Ichibankuji and other crane game figure variety and almost every shop had the same exact stuff. The shops with consignment items had more variety of older figures, but that was a mixed bag. Surprisingly, I didnt find any shops that focused on S.H. Figuarts, X-Plus, or Allies figures, which are what I mainly collect.

On a separate day, I also found the Flowering Pop-Up shop inside Shinjuku station, and although soft goods aren’t typically my thing, I did buy a little Majin Buu pouch and was thinking of buying a towel as well but ended up not getting that.

My time there was short this time because I was coming back from a longer trip elsewhere, but I might go on a longer trip focused on Japan next year!
