Dragon Ball anime is finally back with the release of the first episode of Daima on friday. Finally had time to watch it and my review is below. If you haven’t watched it and dont want spoilers, do not read below the image:
The episode starts out introducing the antagonists who are watching the events of the Buu Saga. They are irritated that Bibidi is using the King of the Demon Realm and then is killed in battle against Majin Buu. This makes Gomah the new King of the Demon Realm. We also meet Degesu and learn that he is the brother of the Supreme Kai. We also meet Dr. Arinsu and an unknown Namekian. They end up hatching a plan to go to earth to use their Dragon Balls.
This series seems to take place directly after the Buu Saga but before Super as there is no mention of Beerus, Whis, or any of the characters from Super. When Goku and Vegeta show up almost half way through the first episode, they are fighting in base form.
They appear on earth at Kami’s lookout and end up meeting Little Green. The unknown Namekian then senses the Dragon Balls and notices that they have been used recently and are in rock form. He uses his powers to collect them all and then convert them back to useable Dragon Balls. Little Green refuses to give up the secret phrase to call on Shenron so they end up beating him up. We learn that the Demon Realm also has Dragon Balls, but the unknown Namekian also created three guardians to protect it, not sure from what or why, but that is the reason. They also seemed surprised that Shenron is able to grant three wishes. They eventually get the phrase from Little Green, call on Shenron and make their wish. At the end of the episode you see the characters start turning.
This was more of a recap to introduce those who may not have watched or remember the Buu saga and is a setup to whatever the main story will be. Let me know in the comments what you thought of the first episode!
