So Dragon Ball has sunk its teeth into the Japan Mint now, has it? Of course it has. As if plastering Kakarot’s face on everything else wasn’t enough, now he’s on money. Ridiculous… but admittedly, impressive craftsmanship.
Two limited-edition coin sets are being released to commemorate 40 years of the Dragon Ball series. Yes, forty. That clown’s been grinning and yelling for decades, and now the Japan Mint is celebrating it with medals and coins even I have to admit are… well-made.
Dragon Ball 40th Anniversary 2025 Proof Coin Set

This set includes six proof coins, from 500 yen to 1 yen, all minted in 2025 with that ridiculous shiny finish the Mint is so proud of. But the real centerpiece is a silver medal: Goku’s mug on the front, the 40th anniversary logo on the back in a flashy rainbow. They even threw in a leather case and a full timeline from the series’ birth in 1984 up to Dragon Ball DAIMA in 2024. A full history lesson for the overly nostalgic.
Dragon Ball 40th Anniversary Coin Set

A slightly more modest set, same range of coins, but regular circulation-grade. Comes with a red bronze medal instead. Goku again on the front, and the Four-Star Ball on the back. The packaging shows off legendary moments from the manga and anime, plus that same timeline to remind you just how long this madness has lasted.
So, if you’ve got Zeni to burn and nostalgia to indulge, this is your chance. But don’t dawdle, quantities are limited, and applications are only open for a short time.
