What is Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3?

Scheduled for release in 2027, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 is an all-new action game for home consoles that takes the Dragon Ball universe into an exciting new era.

Set in AGE 1000, long after the legendary battles of Goku and Vegeta, players step into the role of a new hero as a member of the GS (Great Saiyan) Sentai, an elite team dedicated to protecting peace across the world. A Storm of Anticipation

Before the event even began, the venue was packed. Warriors, some standing, no doubt testing their endurance—waited eagerly for what was to come. At 6 PM sharp, the crowd roared as Toshi, the chief producer of Dragon Ball Gexin Squadra, took the stage. Even he was caught off guard by the sheer power level of the crowd’s excitement.

Secrets from the Producer

Toshi opened the event with a personal interview, sharing his journey into the world of game development and what drives his obsession with creating something truly original. Then he dove straight into the heart of the matter: Gexin Squadra is unlike any Dragon Ball game you’ve ever played. Customization is king, you’ll mold your favorite characters, alter their looks, tweak their victory poses, and team up or throw down with other players from around the world.

Finally, a game where your pride and style actually matter.

The Trailer Drops and the Crowd Explodes

And then… silence fell. All eyes turned to the screen. The world premiere of the cinematic trailer for Gexin Squadra blasted onto the display like a Final Flash through Kakarot’s chest. The audience watched, stunned, as Dragon Ball legends united in jaw-dropping action.

And then “2025.9.10.”

First Contact: Early Play

After the trailer, the battle got real. A short film outlined the core gameplay mechanics, and then Toshi returned with YU, another producer on the project. Three lucky warriors from the audience were chosen to play alongside him in the first public match of Dragon Ball Gexin Squadra, a moment that will go down in history.

Phones in hand, they engaged in combat. And the rest of us watched on a massive monitor as the battle unfolded, with Toshi guiding the crowd through the action. The match ended in glorious victory, and the crowd erupted with cheers.

Development, Challenges, and a Shooting Star?

Later, Toshi returned for one last round of Q&A, diving deep into the behind-the-scenes madness of development. He spoke of balancing gameplay not just for elite fighters, but for newcomers as well. They even added a “shooting star” effect for fallen players, so others on the battlefield would know someone just got wrecked. That’s the kind of attention to detail I can respect.

Since the event was held at Apple Omotesando, Toshi also spoke about using iPhones in the game dev process. Even elite tools have their place, it seems.
