SDCC 2016 Broly Packaging Revealed

The packaging for the San Diego Comic Con exclusive SH Figuarts Broly figure has been revealed via a source attending “preview night”! Interestingly enough the packaging is of the “old” design and not what we’ve seen lately with Awakening Goku, Whis, Beerus and Super Saiyan Trunks.

SH Figuarts Broly SDCC 2016 Packaging

As we’ve reported before, SDCC Broly has an MSRP of $69.99 and will be limited as per Tamashii Nations’ new process.

Thursday through Sunday, there will be two options. There’s a “fast-pass”, where at 10:00 am and 12:00 pm, Tamashii Nations will give out tickets to those in line. You’ll receive a ticket and an order sheet that will allow you to reserve up to two exclusive items. You’re then allowed to come back during a designated time utilizing a short cut close to the front of the line and purchase the items.

The second option is still first come/first serve, which can be a gamble. This allows you to buy up to three of each of the exclusives. Additionally you may purchase limited “early sales” items like:

  • Figuarts Zero EX Vegeta
  • S.H. MonsterArts Godzilla
  • S.H. Figuarts Black Lady
  • S.H. Figuarts Naruto
  • S.H. Figuarts Leonardo & Donatello

  1. Of course the package is not changed. You people have to understand Bandai is just reusing the same tool and mold used to make the cardboard and transparent plastic components that make up the packaging box. This way Bandai does not have to incur any new costs. On top of that Bandai also used back the same plastic mold for this SDCC exclusive figure and simply repainted it. Now new costs incurred by Bandai but new profits as Bandai gets to sell more using the same tooling and plastic mold. To me it’s just a gimmick to get more sales.

    • It may be a gimmick, but it shouldn’t come as a surprise to you (or anyone). All of their Dragon Ball SDCC exclusives have been variant colored figures.

  2. I have a question: I’m from Brazil and wasn’t able to buy Broly yet. While here is becoming pretty hard to find the figure, how is there at the United States? It’s considered easy to find him, a truly sucessful figure… did he already went as Goku SS3 and Perfect Cell as a “desired relaunch”!?

If anyone can answer, even just by his impressions, it would be really helpfull.

    • Your best bet is to try eBay. However, Big Bad Toy Store usually gets a few SDCC exclusive and lists them for sale after the convention. No telling when though.
